Canterbury Home Show gears up to support local building and renovating businesses and provide solutions for home owners

PDF Format Media Release 3 October 2011

As Christchurch City rebuild plans are still at discussion point, many Christchurch homeowners harbor a well-overdue desire to rebuild their homes and home life.

But as the Canterbury earthquakes might have shaken the ground beneath our feet it is our confidence in building systems and materials that remains shattered.

Not wanting to be hasty into rebuilding, whether it is from scratch or to a current structure, Canterbury homeowners should soak up as much advice, product information and new ideas as possible.

The upcoming Canterbury Home Show, to be held at the CBS Arena Friday 14th – Sunday 16th October, will offer all this and more. There will be over 150 businesses in the home building, renovating and decorating industry, most of them local to Canterbury, all showing their building products, offering expert advice and the latest in design ideas.

“This year there will be a strong focus on rebuilding products and information, expert advice and design ideas and structure”, says Exhibition Sales Manager, Sharon Spyve. “We have injected a lot of time and effort into some great features that will be of great service to Show visitors” says Sharon.

‘Ask the Experts’ is a free personal-service consultation area where homeowners can come along with plans, drawings and ideas and ask an industry expert all the questions about where to go from here with their rebuild, renovation or new home build project. Jay from Fix It Building Services is proud to present the 'Ask the Renovation Experts' consultation area this year and will be dedicated to answering all your building and renovation questions. The Fix It Building Services Group provides a ‘design to completion’ service for home renovation, additions/extensions and rebuild repairs. Fix It will be joined by experts from Foley Group Architects and Embellish Design to ensure a wide range of queries will be covered.

A great line up of free seminars will run for the duration of the three-day Show. Design Rebuild Renovate seminars cover a range of topic: Landscaping Design, Interior Design, Kitchens & Bathrooms, Colour and Paint and much more.

The ‘Build Back Better’ seminars offer everything from building a sustainable home to power and solar options to building quake-resistant homes.

“We’ve seen the growing expectation to get new build and rebuild right - of building back better - become a widespread demand for safe and healthy buildings. We’ve also seen the industry respond with the systems, materials and technologies that will help a stronger Christchurch rise from the rubble and we’re showcasing as many of them as we can this year,” says Michael Herman, organizer of the Build Back Better feature.

“Architects, designers, and builders will be available to talk about your options for building a better home, and Homestar™ rating tool consultants will be on hand to provide independent advice on how to increase the performance, value, and comfort of your home,” says Glen.

See how four leading kitchen designers have created inspirational Designer Kitchens showcasing the latest Kitchen design trends, finishing products, cabinetry and appliances in the Designer Kitchens area, proudly sponsored by Resene. The designers, representing  Euroform Kitchens, Modern Age Kitchens, Living Kitchens and Bates Joinery, will be on hand to discuss their designs and offer ideas and advice.

The Canterbury Home Show runs for three days from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th October at the CBS Arena, Addington. Open 10am – 6pm each day. For full seminar timetable, more information and discounted entry tickets visit www.canterburyhomeshow.co.nz
